GMP capable isolator providing sterile laminar airflow under strict anaerobic conditions.GMP capable isolator providing sterile laminar airflow under strict anaerobic conditions.
The A135 GMP and A155 GMP Workstations maintain strict anaerobic conditions, operating from two gas supplies for the most effective and efficient running costs. These anaerobic chambers exceed the requirements of Grade A air cleanliness (EU GMP) and ISO 14644-1 Class 3 both at rest and in operation. They combine sterile laminar airflow, positive operating pressure, and physical isolation, to provide highly effective product protection. Due to being a completely closed, re-circulating, isolator system, these workstations can be housed in a Grade D cleanroom during GMP compliant use.
Our manufacturing partner of over 20 years, Don Whitley Scientific, has focused their efforts into developing a new workstation designed for anaerobic processing that can be operated in a GMP environment. This decision was based on many customer inquiries into our market leading HEPA workstations that required more precise air flow technology and software to meet GMP standards. Based on customer feedback and a desire to provide a cutting edge system that presents a new class of anaerobic workstations the A135 and A155 GMP Workstations were designed.
These workstations are ideal for a range of applications such as fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), live biotherapeutics, manufacture of probiotics, biopharmaceuticals and microbiome therapeutics.
An optional HEPA Filtered Airlock is also available, which includes the incorporation of a H14 HEPA filter to ensure 100% reduction in airborne particulate in the airlock over the course of the cycle. This ensures Grade A particulate counts in the main chamber are not compromised.
Each workstation is tested to ensure compliance with the relevant portions of ISO 14644-3. In addition, tests carried out in our own laboratories confirm the integral HEPA filtered laminar flow system meets the requirements set out in BS EN 12469:2000 with regard to protection of the working area from particulate and microbial contamination.
Applications include therapeutic products requiring controlled atmospheric conditions (anaerobic/hypoxic) for manufacture:
GMP range of workstations are validated to be 99.9997% efficient in a single pass with an H14 filter.
This is the only product providing atmospheric condition control and unidirectional flow.

Laminar Flow HEPA Filtration
Operational particulate counts are kept low even when large amounts of particulate is generated.
Benefits of a GMP Isolator Workstation
Clean Room: Cascade Approach
Traditionally ‘cascade’ from class D - >A. This adds significant cost to any project requiring the build-out of several areas for different air classification environments.

Isolator: All-In-One Approach
The air classification required for the background environment depends on design of the isolator and its application. It should be controlled and for aseptic processing it should be at least grade D.

Whitley Incubation Box
New from Don Whitley Scientific is the rectangular, transparent and stackable anaerobic ‘jar’. It can be used to create the perfect environmental conditions for the isolation and cultivation of anaerobic and microaerobic organisms, and for cell culture applications.
Whitley Incubation Boxes were designed specifically to be stacked on top of each other inside an incubator or on the bench, saving valuable space. The main box (without the lid in place and with no samples inside) can be nested with other empty boxes so that work in progress takes up minimal space.
Whitley Incubation Box will accommodate either 12-14 x 90mm Petri dishes or 5 x standard multi-well plates. The four latches used to open and close the box are attached to the lid so there are no loose parts to misplace.
The Whitley Incubation Box may be used to transfer items into and out of a Whitley Workstation. Whitley Incubation Box has been designed to fit through the 35-sized airlock and every larger Whitley airlock. This application is ideal when you want to move samples from one workstation to another and when you want to preserve your samples in modified atmospheric conditions while they continue to grow in an external incubator.
The design of the Whitley Incubation Box includes a safety valve, which ensures an appropriate level of vacuum is achieved without damaging the box itself. It is durable and lightweight and can be used to create multiple atmospheres.

Options and SpecsThe Whitley A135 Anaerobic Workstation is the latest innovation in workstation technology from Don Whitley Scientific. The tallest, deepest, widest anaerobic workstation in our extensive range. It is specifically designed to maintain strict anaerobic conditions within a controlled environment. It provides excellent conditions for the processing, incubation and examination of samples without exposure to atmospheric oxygen. With a usable internal volume of 560 liters, a variety of equipment can be accommodated within the chamber. As well as providing ideal conditions for anaerobic studies, this workstation operates from two gas supplies for the most cost-effective running conditions.
The A135 has built-in rapid airlock. This ensures samples can be transferred into the workstation atmosphere as soon as possible (takes only 60 seconds).
Can be fitted with the optional Whitley Internal HEPA Filtration System. All the atmosphere passes through the filter hundreds of times an hour, which ensures the chamber environment is cleaned quickly. DWS filters are located inside the workstation, which prevents the filter becoming saturated with moisture and rendered ineffective. Levels of atmospheric cleanliness inside the workstation exceed the requirements of ISO 14644 Class 3.
The A135 is fitted with a removable front. The removable front facilitates thorough cleaning, easy replacement of the HEPA filter, and the transfer of bulk samples and larger pieces of equipment for use in the workstation.
The internal atmosphere is circulated continuously - contributing to even temperature distribution and ensuring any internal particulates will be in motion before capture by the filter.
Fully integrated gas control avoids bulky add-on systems - reduces the need for additional bench space.
