The Whitley Workstation A85 has a 540 plate capacity and is constructed of rigid acrylic (6mm thick front panels, 10mm thick side panels). The panels are chloroform annealed, creating a uni-body construction capable of withstanding positive pressure well in excess of the 4 PSI maintained constantly by the system.
Patented use of “oval” shaped gloveless entry ports allow the introduction of samples/materials by acting as a transfer airlock. This process allows the user to place their materials in the chamber while placing their hands in the chamber, reducing overall gas consumption considerably by not having to run a secondary airlock cycle. Evacuation and gassing of sleeves as well as opening of inner doors are controlled via the wireless footswitch. The system uses a radio controlled footswitch to eliminate clumsy wiring. There is a manual override for use when necessary.
Patented use of Anotox (activated carbon impregnated with ferric hydroxide) for atmospheric conditioning. By using Anotox, the catalyst does not have to be removed and baked routinely. Anotox removes the Hydrogen Sulfide and volatile fatty acids (by-products of anaerobe metabolism) that poison the catalyst and can impede the growth of anaerobes.
The entire workstation is temperature controlled, allowing for temperatures between 4°C and 44°C. There is no need for extra incubators and loss of space efficiency. Humidity is controlled automatically by an electronically controlled water removal system. Water is pumped to a container containing a silver-impregnated bacteriostatic wick to evaporate the water externally. There are no containers to empty. The humidity setting is user programmable.
The electronics and lighting are located in an external control housing. There is no need to compromise the workstation to change light bulbs or perform fuse replacement.
The 100 plate airlock is an option to the Whitley Workstation A85. The airlock cycle is electronically controlled and requires only a press of a button to operate. Catalyst dedicated to the airlock is housed internally and does not need to be changed or replaced.

Microbiology International can now offer the unique Whitley Internal HEPA Filtration System to provide a high degree of product/sample protection on Whitley Anaerobic Workstations. HEPA fitted workstations are ideal for use as part of a pharmaceutical manufacturing process, for the cultivation of slow-growing anaerobes, or for applications requiring complex manipulations under anaerobic conditions (ie biochemical assays).
Using innovative circulation technology, all the atmosphere in the chamber passes through the filter every four seconds, quickly creating and maintaining a particle-free environment (tested down to 0.3μm – exceeding ISO 14644 Class 3, as referenced in the Cell Tissue Culture Directive, or Class 1 of US Federal Standard 209E). Unlike some other systems, Microbiology International integrates the filter within the workstation.
To introduce samples or equipment, the built-in, 12 liter, rapid-cycle airlock has the capacity to introduce up to 40 Petri dishes into the workstation in 60 seconds. There is also the option to specify the 15cm letterbox, ideal for quickly transferring all sizes of dishes and small items.
Whatever your application, we can tailor the Whitley A35 Workstation to your requirements. For example, if you want to be able to use electrical equipment inside the chamber, you could include the option of a built-in, interior electrical socket. If you require the ability to thoroughly sanitize your workstation between experiments or need to introduce large items of equipment, you may want to specify the removable front option.

The Whitley A55 Anaerobic Workstation is the latest innovation in workstation technology from Don Whitley Scientific. Complete with two built-in, rapid airlocks and intuitive touch-screen control panel, this new workstation allows you to work completely glove AND sleeve-free.
No gloves, no sleeves, no waiting. The A55 is the first four port workstation to be offered with our new glove/sleeve-free entry system. This porthole design is ideal for users who are in and out of the chamber for short periods of time and use the workstation mainly as an anaerobic incubator. We recommend our conventional, sleeve-gassing ports for users who will be spending extended periods of time working inside the chambers. Now you can choose the entry system best suited for your workflow. The A55 offers any combination of sleeved or rapid-entry ports.
The work and storage areas of the atmosphere chamber are temperature controlled with an impressively low gradient threshold. This allows the full internal volume to be used as an incubator if desired. The A55 anaerobic chamber also offers the option of split incubation temperatures with separation between the two sides. The dual airlocks are flushed with nitrogen as an additional cost savings.
From a relatively small footprint we have been able to maximize incubating capacity to create the perfect environment, whether for a few plates or hundreds of plates. To introduce samples or equipment, the built-in, dual 12 liter rapid-cycle airlocks have the capacity to move up to 40 Petri dishes per airlock into the workstation in 60 seconds. There is also the option to specify the 15cm letterbox for rapid sample entry. As with our other Whitley Workstations, the A55 anaerobic cabinet also incorporates patented use of Anotox (activated carbon impregnated with ferric hydroxide) for atmospheric conditioning. By using Anotox, the catalyst does not have to be removed and regenerated routinely. Anotox removes the hydrogen sulfide and volatile fatty acids (by-products of anaerobe metabolism) that poison the catalyst and impede the growth of anaerobes.

The Whitley Workstation A95 has a 1080 plate capacity and is constructed of rigid acrylic (6mm thick front panels, 10mm thick side panels).
The 100 plate airlock is an option to either the Whitley Workstation A95. The airlock cycle is electronically controlled and requires only a press of a button to operate. Catalyst dedicated to the airlock is housed internally and does not need to be changed or replaced. The system uses a radio controlled footswitch to eliminate clumsy wiring. There is a manual override for use when necessary. There are audible alarms to notify the user of low gas pressure, gas leaks, or power failure. The system is capable of maintaining anaerobiosis in the event of power loss for up to 24 hours.
